Unfortunately much too small portions, therefore only 4/5 stars. Otherwise a great atmosphere, friendly waiters and delicious food! :) The facility is really unique! The operator should urgently work on his competence to respond to negative comments as you can see here in the reviews or 0 I'm shocked!

Unfortunately, the quality has steadily decreased, when I was there with a friend two weeks ago, we were only allowed to sit outside (by the way, I don't find it clear that Café Hüftgold is a restaurant and not a café), our drinks were at most lukewarm and with one exception the staff were unfortunately not that friendly either. The cake is still very tasty, but used to be juicier. But what bothers me the most is the rudeness of the owner - both on site and in the answers here in the comments. I have a lot of fond memories associated with the café, but unfortunately I will not go there again the next time I'm in Monschau.

I was thrilled when I came here to eat. The decor is extraordinary, it just looks great. The food tastes great, especially the game dishes are great. Staff and boss work well together, they are all a well-coordinated team and in a good mood. I'm looking forward to my next visit and can only recommend it here! 😊

Very tasty food in a relaxed environment. A highlight are the various tables and seating, which consist of different furniture and / or objects. The service was very friendly and the current Covid-19 measures and guidelines are observed. We will be happy to visit it again.

Not at all suitable with children. There is no high chair or changing area. That should be possible everywhere. Furniture is a matter of taste, but you should still do without the Sarotti-Mohr on the wall. The food was ok. Service can be expanded.

We were there for the repeated time to eat. Very delicious food and nice owner and staff. The people who supposedly have had such bad experiences here should perhaps think about themselves. Sound and appropriate behavior make a lot. We are very happy to return here when we are in Monschau.

The negative reviews are incomprehensible to us. The tilted windows were VERY positive, the Corona handling here is very exemplary. Food very good, waffles very different from what you know. But good! Service also friendly ... You wonder if some really just want to complain

Very quaint and cozy restaurant. If you like mustard, you should definitely try the mustard soup here! It tastes very spicy and, as the name suggests, like mustard ... 😊 The game dishes are also very recommendable and extremely tasty. The waffle was an absolute dream too. Not at all to be compared with a conventional waffle. More like something in between, between waffle and pancake, fantastic. All in all, it's been a good choice. Even though we only came here shortly before the end of the day, we were welcomed in a friendly manner and never rushed. Very nice and friendly team. Happy to stop there again! Thank you very much for food and drink ... 😊

Unfortunately there are no offers for children here. Not even when asked. Radiant heaters are not turned on. Waitress had too many tables. It all took a long time. The food was good.

Not really what you would expect. Food quite expensive. Service not really friendly. We do not recommend this establishment. There is much more choice in the city where you are well served.

At the recommendation of the whiskey shop owner, we stopped by yesterday. The food was really delicious. The only negative point, it was unfortunately very cold in the restaurant due to the open door. (possibly due to Corona?) Should we be in Monschau again, we would be happy to come back.

Example of a greedy tourist trap. They won’t let you in if you want to have coffee&desserts, etc instead of lunch. What a pity.

Salad with strips of turkey: Serving the dressing separately is not possible because 'we don't have a container for it', as the waitress said. Then the turkey strips were not well cooked and sometimes still pink. They wanted to serve new turkey strips but that would probably take a while. We declined with thanks. We didn't even mention the missing croutons. The taste was OK and the service was otherwise friendly. Unfortunately not recommended.

The only place in town where I can have Endo-friendly food and coffee, without explaining every f-time what and why can't I eat some foods. Even with my "special" order, the staff does it with a smile on their faces. The third time I went there, the owner remembered exactly what I always order (I am a waitress myself and I find that super awesome. Would have liked to have ordered more, but unfortunately the waitress only came to the table for drinks once at the beginning, then only on request from us. Empty glasses were cleared away, the question of whether we would like to drink something else remained. We also had to keep talking to the waitress to order food or to pay. A real shame.

Amazing schnitzel, wordless!

The service was very unfriendly and did not respond to requests, such as bring a straw. My friend had dark hair in the cold chocolate and she took the glass and just said: Nobody works with black hair! She came back and gave the money back and just said we should go! Impossible my friend's little daughter couldn't even eat her waffle in peace! Impossible, not recommended and we won't be going back there! I also find it absurd that not everyone can pay for themselves - it works elsewhere, only not with them!

It’s a really cozy place to enjoy some food, a beer or some pastry. The staff is great, and the prices are ok. It’s a good option, if you want to take a minute, before continuing to walk around the little town.

Cozy, charming and casual place with delicious bistro and pub food items. They offer a nice list of unusual beers including a delicious coffee beer exclusively sold by a local coffee roasters (they brew it in cooperation with a small Belgian brewery nearby). The wait staff was quick, attentive, and friendly.

Very relaxed atmosphere with a great menu and very friendly staff. The various game dishes from our own hunt were unique. The game schnitzel was great. Freshly breaded and fried in the pan. The price was completely reasonable. Thumbs up from us and a recommendation for everyone who likes something alternative :)

Good place, warm host. We ordered french pizza ( don't know the French name) vegetarian and a chicken burger. Very filling and great service.

Decoration is nice and u can find lots of fun here. But the food worths 3. 5 stars in my eyes. Good place to have a break during walking. And only above 15€ consumption you can use card, so prepare cash.

After 9 years living in Germany, it is the first time I have such an experience as a non caucasian resident in the country. We sit there to have a coffee, the waitress came to the neighbor table to ask for their order, after that, insted of asking us which is normal of the German efficency, told us to wait, that she would come right away, after more than 5 minutes, a waiter came to the same neighbour table and ask for their order. They told him that they have already ordered and I pointed out that we were ready to order, instead of taking our order, he asked us again to wait (I did not understand how he was ready to take the order of one table and not from ours). We waited for another 10 minutes and we called him several times, and always refused to take our order then we decided to go. All other customers were being served and it was clear that they were not interested in serving us.We were the only no caucasians customers which made us suspicious of the reason we were not served.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Clearly the owner or decorator has a sense of humor that seeps through. A great place to sit and have a drink. We haven’t eaten there yet but the plates offered to other guests looked worth a try. Maybe next time.

Good quality food but could have had a bigger portion of the schnitzel I think. No English menus, so be prepared to do some translating.

A quaint little cafe away from the touristy market of Monschau but not without tourists. It is on the same row as the Monschau Tourist Centre. The cafe is decorated with African memorabilias. Map of the African continent, knick knacks of Safari animals. A wild guess would be that the owner of the place left his/her heart in Africa :) Adds more charm to the cosy town of Monschau. The menu is in German and the waitress cannot speak English fluently but she was very attentive and helpful. Service was little bit slow because there was a lack of staff and the place was pretty crowded as well. The menu is extensive so if wild boars and everything else wild is your thing, this would be the place for you to dine. Boyfriend ordered the wild plate and I kept it simple & safe and went with the burger. BF was happy with his dish but I was disappointed with mine. It wasn't anything to rave about that's why I am giving it lower stars. With such high ratings of this place, I expected everything on the menu to be superb. Nonetheless, a nice place to try out when in Monschau. It is a unique experience as not many places serves wild animals from their own hunt.

The best place in the town. Very delicious hamburger. Fresh salad. Delicious potato. There is coffee with cakes as well. Worth to come again only because of this restaurant.

Very cozy place in Monschau to sit and enjoy your time if you have walked through the small town. They have awesome seasonal dishes as well as very good Apfelstrudel. Good coffee. Good environment. Fair price in Monschau.

Nice little local restaurant serving local dishes from local wild deer and wild boar, in a cozy and warm Interior. They also serve a good range of hot drinks and great cakes.

Nice place for breakfast one of the few open during winter time. Good value for standard fare. Festive fairytale surroundings offering tasty cakes and chocolates. The only annoying thing was I needed to leg it over to an ATM as they only accept cash.
